For many separated, divorced, or never-married parents, this is not easy.
Ellen Kellner, author of The Pro-Child Way®: Parenting with an Ex, focuses on our greater spiritual existence and how it applies to fostering what all children need – love, patience, kindness, consistency, and consideration.
Good parenting skills, she says, can be maintained even when marital status changes. Children are too often the unintended victims of their parents’ mutual animosity during and after divorce. Convinced that children deserve something better, Ellen teaches parents how to keep their children’s hearts and spirits at the core of decision-making.
During her own divorce Ellen developed a four-step process for creating solutions to divorced-parenting challenges. Her book, The Pro-Child Way®: Parenting with an Ex, guides parents through 46 divorced-parenting situations that can be challenging and uses a problem/solution format. For each situation, a “typical” reaction is contrasted with the “Pro-Child” solution. Whether your divorce has passed or you are still in the midst of the process, your children can benefit from your learning to think in a new way.
Ellen’s Pro-Child approach to parenting during and after divorce is the result of her own personal journey into mindful divorced parenting. Twice divorced, she is blessed to have two daughters. Through the experience of her divorces, she became convinced that good parenting skills are absolute and are not corrupted by marital status. Ellen’s “tell-it-like-it-is” style is not steered by research studies or academic learning, but by her hands on approach. With each new divorced parenting situation, she takes the time to figure it out, tapping into the universal truths of love. It was her daughters’ smiles that inspired her work. Using her intuition, discernment, and experience, she guides parents into the Pro-Child approach.
